Transport can shape your entire experience in Kosovo. The right choice depends on where you want to go, how much time you have, and your travel style.
Intercity buses: frequent and affordable
Buses are the backbone of domestic travel. They run between Pristina, Prizren, Peja and Gjakova every 20–30 minutes during the day. Tickets are bought directly from the conductor on board for €3 to €5 in cash.
Renting a car for mountain freedom
A rental car offers total flexibility if you want to visit remote mountain trailheads in Rugova or villages with historic stone kullas. Modern motorways connect major cities, while mountain roads require attentive, relaxed driving.
City walking and taxis
Downtown Pristina and the historic centre of Prizren are best explored on foot. In Pristina, registered meter taxis cost just €3 to €5 for cross-town rides.
Airport transfers
A direct public bus links Pristina International Airport (PRN) to the city bus station and center for €3.00, while fixed-rate airport taxis operate 24/7.
