Where to Eat in Prizren: Old Town Bakeries, Taverns & Coffee

A field note from Enjoy Kosovo

A local perspective on Kosovo

Food in Prizren is shaped by centuries of Ottoman, Albanian, and Mediterranean traditions. Portions are generous, flavors are honest, and every meal invites you to linger.

Morning Burek with Yogurt

Wake up early and head to a neighborhood furrë (bakery). The crispy, flaky layers of burek filled with minced beef or salty cottage cheese (gjizë) paired with cold liquid drinking yogurt are unmatched.

Traditional Grill Houses (Qebaptore)

Shadërvan is lined with storied grill houses serving handmade qebapa with somun (warm wood-fired flatbread) and roasted hot peppers.

Desserts & Turkish Coffee

End your afternoon with warm baklava, trileçe (sponge cake soaked in three milks), or tulumba, washed down with thick, freshly brewed Turkish coffee.
